The City Administrator’s Office is dedicated to improving how San Francisco government serves the public. By leading efforts to strengthen service delivery across departments, we’re working together to make government more effective, responsive, and accountable. In this month’s newsletter, we are excited to share highlights of our latest work, along with upcoming events happening this month.
Register now for the next Small Business Contracting Workshop
There’s still time to register for the next City Contracting 101 Workshop on Wednesday, September 16th!
If you are a small business who’s interested in contracting with the City and County of San Francisco, join the next workshop to connect directly with City staff and learn how to do business with city government.
Explore the benefits of Local Business Enterprise and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification, and get one-on-one guidance tailored to your business.
Hands-on support will be available throughout the event!
Apply to the Community Challenge Grants Program!
Community Challenge Grants (CCG) Program applications are live! CCG provides City funding for community-led neighborhood improvement projects that foster resilience, safety, and belonging across San Francisco.
Nonprofit organizations, neighborhood groups, and community partners are encouraged to apply with projects that strengthen communities through collaboration and local leadership. Applications are due October 20, 2026.
For hands on support, join an upcoming online grant workshop hosted by CCG. Attendees can learn about permits, approvals, and City requirements for Community Challenge Grant proposals.

Help the City improve payment processes for grantees and contractors
Attention all City grantees and suppliers! The City Administrator's Office is launching a public engagement process as part of our Improving City Payment Timelines project – and we want to hear from you. If you’ve ever received a grant from the City, or worked as a contractor or consultant on a City project, we want to hear about your experiences receiving payments from the City. What worked well and what didn’t? How can we improve?
Join us at one of our in-person or virtual public workshop sessions:
IN PERSON: Wednesday, September 30, 2026, 1:00 – 3:00 pm – open to contractors and grantees across all sectors
VIRTUAL: Wednesday, October 7, 2026, 1:00–2:30 pm -focused on nonprofit organizations
VIRTUAL: Tuesday, October 27, 2026, 3:00–4:30 pm –focused on professional and general service providers
Learn about Treasure Island on “I Left My Podcast in San Francisco”
Sheela Jivan, Executive Director of the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA), joins host Franco Finn for a wide-ranging conversation about San Francisco’s emerging waterfront community.
Part of the City Administrator’s Office, TIDA manages the effort that has added more than 1,200 new market-rate and affordable homes to Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island, with future plans including approximately 7,000 additional units of housing, both affordable and market-rate, and hundreds of more acres of parks and open space.

Treasure Island’s Off the Grid returns this fall, happening Saturdays from September 12 through October 17, from 11 AM to 4 PM! Enjoy acclaimed local food, impeccable views, and entertainment, just a short ferry ride from downtown. Admission is free and pets are welcome.
For events, concerts, dining experiences, and more, make Treasure Island your destination.
Dreamforce comes to Moscone Center, Sep. 15-17!
This month, the Moscone Center will host Dreamforce, one of the world’s most sought-after tech events, September 15-17.
Dreamforce is coming to San Francisco for its 24th year, welcoming more than 50,000+ attendees, creating 35,000+ local jobs, and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity.

StopScamsSF is the nation's first comprehensive, city-led initiative to protect residents from fraud, assist victims, and monitor emerging scams.
The SF Immigrant Forum is an inter-agency partnership between the Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs, Department of Public Health, Human Services Agency and the Mayor’s Office on Housing and Community Development to share immigrant services and resources in San Francisco.
