SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 – This week, the United States Postal Service will begin delivering over 50,000 vote-by-mail ballot packets prepared by the Department of Elections for voters in Supervisorial District 4. Each packet will contain a single-card ballot printed in four languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino. Additionally, each packet will include a postage-paid return envelope, voting instructions, and a Voter Information Pamphlet.
“Voters have several convenient options for returning their ballots,” said Director John Arntz. “They can return their ballots via the United States Postal Service, at the Department’s office in City Hall (Room 48), or at one of three official ballot drop boxes located at the Ortega Branch Library, Parkside Branch Library, and City Hall. Each drop box will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until the polls close on Election Night. My staff is also available to assist voters with any questions they may have.”
On Monday, August 18, the Department will launch the Accessible Vote-by-Mail System at sfelections.gov/access. This system enables eligible voters to download and mark their ballot using a screen reader, head-pointer, sip-and-puff device, or other assistive technology. After completing their ballot, voters must print the ballot and return it either by mail or in person.
Voters can track their vote-by-mail ballots from assembly through delivery, signature verification, and counting. To do this, voters can visit the “Track My Ballot” tab at sfelections.gov/voterportal.
Any eligible registrant who does not receive their ballot packet by September 19 is urged to call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375, email sfvote@sfgov.org, or navigate to the “Request a Replacement Ballot” tab at sfelections.gov/voterportal to request redelivery. Voters may also request a replacement ballot in person at the Department’s office.
The Department of Elections is committed to ensuring that every voter has the tools and support they need to participate confidently in local elections. This includes providing comprehensive information on voting options, accessibility resources, language assistance, and more at sfelections.gov. Voters can also call the Department at (415) 554-4375 to receive election information in their preferred language and format.
