Voters Under Conservatorship
If you are under conservatorship, you may still have the right to vote. Being under conservatorship does not automatically take away your right to vote. A court must decide and specifically say that you are not allowed to vote for you to lose that right.
Assistance with registering to vote
If you want to register and vote, but you cannot sign your voter registration form, you still have options. Instead of signing your name, you can:
- Make a mark, like an "X," in the signature box
- Use a stamp of your signature
- Get help from another person to fill out the form. If someone helps you, they just need to write their own name and address in the space provided on the form.
Assistance with voting
You can get help with marking your ballot when it’s time to vote. A family member, a friend, or a poll worker — essentially anyone except your employer or a union representative — can assist you. Remember, while someone can help you mark your ballot, no one is allowed to make voting decisions for you.
