SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 – Today is Election Day, and the Department of Elections encourages every eligible San Franciscan who has not yet voted to make their voice heard.
Voting in Person. San Francisco’s 501 polling places and the City Hall Voting Center are open today from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Approximately 2,000 poll workers will assist voters at neighborhood polling places throughout the city. Voters can find their assigned polling place by visiting sfelections.gov/myvotinglocation, checking the back cover of their Voter Information Pamphlet, or calling (415) 558-6100.
Conditional Registration and Voting. Eligible San Francisco residents who have not yet registered can still register and vote today at any polling place or the City Hall Voting Center. To do so, they must complete a provisional ballot envelope, which also serves as a voter registration form, and cast a provisional ballot. After Election Day, the Department will verify eligibility and count all valid provisional ballots. Beginning Thursday, November 5, voters who cast a provisional ballot can check its status at sfelections.gov/pvlookup or by calling (415) 558-6100.
Returning Vote-by-Mail Ballots. Voters returning their ballots in person must do so by 8 p.m. today at any official ballot drop box, polling place, or the City Hall Voting Center. A list and map of San Francisco’s official ballot drop boxes are available at sfelections.gov/ballotdropoff.
Voters returning their ballots through USPS today are encouraged to take their ballot envelopes to a Post Office counter and request a hand-stamped postmark dated November 3.
Ballot Delivery or Pickup Services. Voters who have not yet voted and are unable to travel to a voting location today can request ballot delivery or pickup services by calling (415) 558-6100. Voters may also authorize another person to pick up a ballot on their behalf at the City Hall Voting Center. To authorize someone to return a completed ballot, voters should complete the “Authorization” section of their ballot return envelope.
Contacting the Department for Assistance. Voters with questions about voting options or other election matters are encouraged to contact the Department at (415) 558-6100 as early as possible so staff can provide assistance before the polls close.
Preliminary Election Results. After the polls close, the Department will issue four preliminary election results reports at sfelections.gov/results. Members of the public can view the complete Election Results Reporting Schedule under the first tab on that page.
