DEI Trainings from DHR
Communicating Across Cultures Workshop
This one-day training helps employees explore strategies to enhance communication and build a culture of trust in their workplace. In this training, participants learn differences in communication styles and the role culture plays in communication and managing conflict.
Managing Implicit Bias Workshop
This training helps participants understand the effects of bias on decision-making, and learn tools to continue creating inclusion in their daily lives.
Respect in the Workplace Workshop
This interactive training provides employees with the opportunity to practice foundational skills that help build positive workplace relationships.

Policies
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Policy

Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance (FFWO)
The Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance is a San Francisco law that lets employees request flexible or predictable work arrangements for caregiving needs.
Gender Inclusion Policy
The City promotes a safe, professional, inclusive, and productive workplace for everyone, regardless of gender identity or gender expression.
Lactation in the Workplace Policy
The City recognizes the health benefits of breastfeeding and supports nursing employees.
Language Diversity Policy
The City supports and encourages using languages other than English in public services and in the workplace to help everyone feel included.
Reasonable Accommodation Policy
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Civil Rights Department do not allow employers to discriminate against qualified applicants and employees on the basis of disability.
Programs
Access to City employment (ACE)
The ACE Program is meant to help those with disabilities gain purposeful and permanent employment with the City. Opportunities in the ACE program are available in nearly every job family as a way to help those that may struggle to navigate the City's hiring process make a career.
City University
In May 2005, the Department of Human Resources (DHR) created City University (CU) to ensure that San Francisco has the most educated and highly trained local government workforce.
