The Board of Supervisors approved the Commission Streamlining Task Force’s proposed ordinance on May 19, 2026. It makes changes to certain public bodies in the Municipal Codes. These changes will take effect on June 29, 2026. In addition, the Task Force’s recommendations for bodies required by the City Charter are still under review. In mid‑May, several Supervisors introduced a proposed Charter amendment that includes some of the Task Force’s recommendations. The Board will continue discussing this proposal over the next few months, and it must be finalized by July in order to appear on the November 2026 ballot. About
Approved by the voters in the November 2024 election, Proposition E established the Commission Streamlining Task Force to make recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Supervisors about ways to modify, eliminate, or combine the City’s appointive boards and commissions for the more effective, efficient, and economical administration of City and County government. The Task Force finalized its recommendations in February 2026, and will automatically disband on January 31, 2027.

The Commission Streamlining Task Force has five members: Seat 1 is for the City Administrator or their designee from the City Administrator's Office; Seat 2 is for the Controller or their designee from the Controller's Office; Seat 3 is for the City Attorney or their designee from the City Attorney's Office; Seat 4 is for a public sector labor representative appointed by the Board of Supervisors President; Seat 5 is for an expert in open and accountable government appointed by the Mayor.
