Commission Streamlining Task Force

We make recommendations about ways to modify, eliminate, or combine the City’s boards and commissions to improve the administration of City government.

How to get involved

Updated November 3, 2025: The Task Force is working to finalize its report of recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Supervisors now through the end of January 2026. Submit written public comment by emailing CommissionStreamlining@sfgov.org prior to any meeting. Comments will be posted on this page under "Public Correspondence." You can also give public comment live during the meetings, either in-person or on WebEx.

Schedule

First and third Wednesdays of every month at 1pm. Meetings are held in-person in City Hall and on Webex. For in-person attendees, visit the meeting page below for the specific room number.

Prop E Important Dates

By February 1, 2026: The Task Force will prepare and send a final report with their recommendations for the Mayor and Board of Supervisors. By March 1, 2026: The City Attorney will draft legislation reflecting the Task Force's recommendations to be sent to the Board of Supervisors. By April 1, 2026: The Board of Supervisors must hold a hearing on the drafted legislation. By July 2026: The Board of Supervisors will decide whether to place a Charter amendment on the November 2026 ballot.View detailed timeline

About

Approved by the voters in the November 2024 election, Proposition E established the Commission Streamlining Task Force to make recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Supervisors about ways to modify, eliminate, or combine the City’s appointive boards and commissions for the more effective, efficient, and economical administration of City and County government. The Task Force will submit its recommendations by February 1, 2026, and will automatically disband on January 31, 2027.

Members

The Commission Streamlining Task Force has five members: Seat 1 is for the City Administrator or their designee from the City Administrator's Office; Seat 2 is for the Controller or their designee from the Controller's Office; Seat 3 is for the City Attorney or their designee from the City Attorney's Office; Seat 4 is for a public sector labor representative appointed by the Board of Supervisors President; Seat 5 is for an expert in open and accountable government appointed by the Mayor.
