Get a permit to install and operate an underground storage tank holding hazardous materials.

What to do

All single-walled Underground Storage Tanks must be permanently closed by December 31, 2025. Learn more in Senate Bill 445.

2. Register to get your permit started

Go to the California Environmental Reporting System to get your permit.

Follow the prompts to:

  • Login or set up a profile
  • Add or update information related to hazardous materials at your business
  • Fill out required documents and information

3. Pay the fee

Write a check, cashier’s check, or money order to “San Francisco Department of Public Health”. Check the fee schedule for the exact amount. Mail the fee to:
