All other permit types and processes remain unchanged.
About online permitting
Refer to PermitSF portal how-tos for more details about working in the new system.
Applying online will allow you to manage all aspects of permitting in one place:
- Submit your project details
- Upload plans, no more printing plans
- Communicate with City staff
- Submit plan revisions
- Track your permit’s status
- Schedule inspections
To apply for permits online, create a free account. Creating an account takes less than 5 minutes with an email address.
Your contact information will then autofill in any permits you apply for.
You will apply for these permits online and no longer come to the Permit Center.
We will not process your application faster in person versus digitally. You will be able to check your permit status and communicate with permitting staff through the PermitSF portal.
You will be able to pay for your permits online using a credit card, debit card, or bank account.
If you would like to pay in cash or by check, you can apply online first. Then you can pay the invoice using a payment kiosk at the Permit Center.
