Streamlining Sign Posting Criteria

February 6, 2026

Dear Customers,

Good news!

We’ve eliminated sign posting requirements for all Over-the-Counter permits.

The City now only requires sign posting for In-House Review projects that remove a dwelling unit or requires tenant relocation from a 5+ unit apartment building or residential hotel with 6+ guest rooms/efficiencies.

Further, we no longer require photo documentation that the sign was posted for two weeks. Instead, project sponsors will complete an affidavit stating that the requirement was satisfied.

Currently, approximately 200 customers come down to the Permit Center for sign posting each month, so this change is going to save many applicants a trip downtown while shortening lines and reducing congestion at the permitting counters.

For more information, see the new R-1 Sign Posting Requirements and Applicant Affidavit.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership!
