POLICY: Childcare facility will be kept free of insects, rodents, and pests.
PURPOSE: To maintain the health and safety of the environment.
To provide the safest environment possible consistently.
To assure everyone is aware of their responsibility to the safety of the children and staff.
PROCEDURE:
- Screens on doors and windows to the outdoors must be intact and in place at all times.
- Keep food areas clean and neat at all times. Wipe up spills immediately. Cover and label all foods stored on the premises.
- Do not use toxic sprays, chemicals, powders, or aerosols to eliminate pests.
- Maintain a contract with an exterminator who understands the sensitivity of childcare environment and has approved methods of pest control.
- Arrange for pest control to be done when children are not present and will not be present for at least 24 hours.
- Review and follow California School & Child Care Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This training must be completed annually. QR Code available on next page.
