Outreach Community Newsletter June 2026
Welcome to the June edition of the Department of Elections Community Outreach Newsletter! In this edition, we reflect on the completion of the June 2, 2026, Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election, share election results and post-election updates, recognize the many community partners, poll workers, and organizations whose support contributed to a successful election, and look ahead to preparations for the November 3, 2026, Consolidated General Election.
Local Results of the June 2, 2026, Election Are Certified

As the June 2, 2026, Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election comes to a close, Director John Arntz today certified San Francisco's local election results, officially concluding the post-election canvass period and audit activities and marking the successful completion of another secure, transparent, and accessible election. Election results have been posted at www.sfelections.gov/results.
Approximately xx% of San Francisco voters participated in the June Election, casting ballots through a variety of voting options, including vote-by-mail, early voting at the City Hall Voting Center, and in-person voting at neighborhood polling places across the city. The participation we saw this election reflects the continued involvement of San Franciscans in local elections and the many ways residents choose to make their voices heard.
The June Election was the culmination of months of planning and preparation and would not have been possible without the partnership and dedication of Department personnel, community organizations, public agencies, poll workers, polling place providers, and the many San Franciscans who helped support election administration efforts.
Together, we administered vote-by-mail services to hundreds of thousands of voters, facilitated accessible in-person voting opportunities, coordinated the secure collection and transport of voted ballots and election materials, and carried out the post-election canvass required to verify and certify election results.
Throughout the election period, we remained committed to ensuring that every voter had access to information and assistance they needed to cast their vote. In the weeks preceding the June Election, our staff responded to thousands of public inquiries received by phone and email, assisted voters with registration and election-related questions, and shared election information through direct mail, social media, and community presentations.
These efforts helped ensure that voting remained accessible, welcoming, and convenient for San Franciscans in every neighborhood and community. We are grateful to everyone who participated in and contributed to the June Election. We also thank our community partners and voters for the trust they continue to place in us as we work to administer free, fair, and functional elections for San Francisco voters.
June 2 Election by the Numbers

Behind every number is a story of participation, partnership, and public service. The June Election brought together voters, community organizations, poll workers, and election staff in support of a shared goal: ensuring that every eligible voter had the opportunity to cast their vote.
Together, we:
- Reached a local voter turnout of xx%
- Received and counted more than xxx,xxx vote-by-mail ballots
- Facilitated voting at 501 neighborhood polling places throughout San Francisco
- Recruited and trained approximately x,xxx poll workers to assist voters on Election Day
- Responded to approximately 4,500 voter inquiries received by phone and email
- Conducted xxx community presentations and outreach events
- Partnered with thousands of community organizations and public agencies to share election information and connect voters with resources and services
What Happens After Election Day?

While polls close on Election Day, our work continues well beyond the final ballot cast. Although many voters experience elections through voting and Election Night results, a significant amount of work takes place after Election Day.
In the days and weeks following the June Election, we counted valid ballots received on or after Election Day, reconciled voting materials, conducted the public 1% manual tally and other election audits, and completed the canvass activities required to verify and certify election results.
These activities help ensure that every eligible ballot is counted and included in the final results. They also give us the opportunity to carefully review election records and materials before certification and confirm that election results accurately reflect the choices made by San Francisco voters.
Preparations for the November 3, 2026, Election Are Underway

The certification of the June 2 Election marks the completion of one election cycle and the beginning of another. Even as we completed the June Election canvass, we had already begun planning and preparing for the November 3, 2026, Consolidated General Election.
Candidate filing for Board of Supervisors races in Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 has concluded, additional nomination periods for city offices are approaching, ballot measure filings are underway, and we continue to process statewide and local initiative petitions that may qualify for the November ballot.
In the months ahead, we will undertake the many activities necessary to administer the November Election, including preparing ballots and the Voter Information Pamphlet in multiple languages and accessible formats, facilitating candidate and ballot measure filings, recruiting and training poll workers, securing polling places, and conducting voter outreach throughout San Francisco.
Get Involved in the November 3 Election

In the coming months, we will begin recruiting hundreds of poll workers to assist voters at polling places on Election Day. If you or someone you know is interested in serving, we encourage you to apply and to spread the word within your communities. To learn more or apply, please visit sfelections.gov/pw.
We will also begin recruiting temporary staff to support the many activities necessary to administer the November Election. These positions offer a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in election administration while helping ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard. To learn more about temporary employment opportunities, visit www.sf.gov/employment-and-volunteer-opportunities-info.
We will also continue our voter outreach and education efforts throughout the city. If your organization is organizing a community meeting, resource fair, cultural celebration, neighborhood gathering, or another event, we would welcome the opportunity to participate. To invite the Department to your event, please contact our Outreach Team at (415) XXX-XXXX or submit a request through our Event Request Form.
Our event calendar is already filling up quickly, so we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. The earlier we hear from you, the better we can work together to bring trusted election information and voter resources to communities throughout San Francisco.
