OEWD Request a Letter of Support

Organizations seeking private, non-governmental (Federal, State, or City) funds may request a letter of support from OEWD so long as the following criteria are met:

  1. The requestor is an official direct grantee or contractor of OEWD and is in good standing with OEWD and all local and state compliance laws.
  2. Letter of Support is not being used to solicit another agency of the City and County of San Francisco. OEWD considers other City agencies as one organization, and therefore, does not provide letters of support for grantees, or any other entity, applying to other City procurements.
  3. The request does not create a new financial or operational partnership between OEWD and the requestor.
  4. Request is submitted with a minimum notice of 10 business days and with a draft letter of support.
    1. What to include in your Letter of Support request:
      1. Must be in MS Word and delivered as an attachment
      2. The funding organization: Include a link or attachment to the grant opportunity
      3. Brief context (2-3 sentences) of your agency’s proposed programming and amount being requested.
      4. Signature request: Who from OEWD (title) are you requesting sign the letter?

The more notice the better. While our goal is to return the signed letter as early as possible, it is important to note that the process can take up to 15 business days. We kindly ask that you plan accordingly when submitting the request to our office. All letters are subject to review by the Mayor’s Office.
