Mayor Lurie Announces 13 Kickoff Events For 'One City Day'
Office of the MayorCitywide Day of Service Will Start With Events in Every Supervisorial District, More Than 170 Service Projects Scheduled Across San Francisco; More Than 2,500 People Already Signed Up to Participate, and Anyone Interested Can Join Kickoff Event to Find a Project
SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie and First Lady Becca Prowda today announced 13 events to kick off “One City Day,” San Francisco’s citywide day of service taking place on July 11, 2026. Events will take place in each supervisorial district with additional events in the Tenderloin and on Treasure Island, welcoming San Franciscans before service projects begin in neighborhoods across the city. More than 2,500 people have already signed up to participate in One City Day, and volunteer sign-ups are still open, though anyone interested in participating can also join a kickoff event to find a service project in their community.
The day of service builds on Mayor Lurie and First Lady Prowda’s work to bring service, accountability, and change to City Hall—values that have guided both of their personal and professional journeys. The mayor and first lady first met while both working at the Robin Hood Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting poverty in New York City. Their shared commitment to serving others has shaped their lives and public service, with Mayor Lurie founding Tipping Point Community in 2005 to fight poverty in the Bay Area.
“From the Super Bowl and World Cup to the Summer of Music and Pride, San Franciscans have come together so many times in recent months, and we’re going to do it again for One City Day,” said Mayor Lurie. “Service is at the core of our administration’s work, and Becca and I are excited to bring our communities together to build a stronger San Francisco. If you haven’t signed up, it’s not too late—come to one of our kickoff events, and we’ll find a project where you can serve your community and support our entire city.”
“Service has the power to bring people together,” said First Lady Prowda. “One City Day is about creating opportunities for neighbors to work side by side, build new connections, and invest in the city they call home. We're excited to welcome so many volunteers from across San Francisco and hope even more people will join us this Saturday.”
