January 29, 2026, San Francisco—HSH and GLIDE today announced the opening of the Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Health & Wellness Center, a vital partnership between the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing and GLIDE, designed to provide critical health services to young adults aged 18-27 experiencing homelessness.
Located in the heart of the city, the Health and Wellness Center will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring that personal hygiene and essential services are always accessible. The program aims to empower young adults by maximizing their ability to live and work in the community, offering them the support they need to pursue their goals.
“The opening of the TAY Health and Wellness Center is a significant step forward in our commitment to addressing the special needs of young adults struggling with homelessness,” said Shireen McSpadden, executive director of the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. “The program will not only provide necessary amenities but also foster an environment of support and dignity, helping our youth gain the skills and resources needed for a brighter future.”
"We know young people can thrive if someone gives them a chance,” said Dr. Gina Fromer, GLIDE president and CEO. “Extending opportunities is a way to say, ‘I believe in you, I see your potential, you are precious to this community.’ When you offer services alongside unconditional love, that’s how you transform lives.”
The TAY Health and Wellness Center will feature a comprehensive range of amenities, including: 24/7 staffing for continuous support, access to bathrooms and secure storage for personal belongings, showers, sinks and laundry facilities, a clothing closet offering free clothes, a hygiene and haircut station, computer workstations and staff offices, security cameras, client mailboxes, bike racks and community space for gathering.
In addition to these essential amenities, the program will also provide social services, including: Life skills group lessens to promote personal development, access point services with coordinated entry assessments, problem solving consultations and referrals for TAY shelter beds, case management for individualized support, wellness checks to ensure ongoing health and safety and connections to workforce development for job readiness and employment.
The TAY Health and Wellness Center represents a fundamental investment in the well-being of our community’s young adults. By addressing their urgent health needs and providing opportunities for personal growth, young people are given a chance to improve their circumstances and thrive.
