Population Health Fellowship

Population Health Fellowship (PHF) is a 2-year paid program
- The PHF program equips future public health workers with practical skills.
- The two-year paid fellowship offers hands-on experience with subject matter experts, skills include: project management, research, and clinic coordination, etc.
- Fellows receive personalized one-on-one mentoring, participate in workshops, and develop job application skills.

Placement Options & Skills Used
Community Health Workers - Promotores
Fellow will be housed in the Office of Equity and Community Engagement where they will support efforts to train and support community health workers also known as promotores.
Skills used:
- Bilingual/bicultural Spanish language
- Experience working with monolingual Spanish speaking communities
- Lived experience with Latine immigrant communities
- Experience in community outreach community engagement or comparable experience in customer service, or interfacing with members of the public (paid or volunteer experience)
Environmental Health - Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard
Fellow will be housed in the Public Health Services Group where they will support public health education and outreach on the cleanup of the Bayview Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. Learn more: Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.
Skills used:
- Interest in working with members of the public on environmental health issues in the Bayview community of San Francisco
- Passion for exploring the relationship between climate change and its impact on human health for communities of color and low-income communities
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate among diverse groups that may have different priorities and ideas
- Strong written and oral communication skills
