About

The San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center (the War Memorial) is a landmark cultural institution comprised of the War Memorial Opera House, Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall, Herbst Theatre, The Green Room, The Wilsey Center (Atrium Theater, Education Studio), and Harold L. Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall, and is owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco as a charitable trust Department.

The War Memorial Board of Trustees, the governing board of the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, consists of eleven trustees appointed by the Mayor for four-year terms (Charter section 5.106).

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the construction, administration, management, superintendence and operation of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. The War Memorial Board of Trustees appoints a Managing Director and an Assistant Managing Director.
