Career Transition Resources
The Department of Human Resources offers the following career resources to support City and County of San Francisco employees impacted by layoffs or employment releases. Services will be offered virtually or in-person at the City Career Center in Room 110 City Hall.

Individual Retirement Advising Appointments
Individual retirement advising appointments for San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS) members retiring within three months. Walk-ins and appointments available. Appointments must be scheduled in advance to apply for retirement benefits.

Accessing Unemployment Benefits and Resources Information Session
Learn about California’s unemployment benefits process and get help from Employment Development Department (EDD) staff on how to apply for unemployment benefits and resources.

Individual Career Advising
Meet one-on-one with a DHR career advisor—virtually or in-person at the Career Center—to receive support with your job search, connect you to resources, learn about educational and training programs, review your resume, and conduct practice interviews with you.
To schedule a career advising appointment, complete sign up and a DHR career advisor will confirm your appointment. To drop in to speak to a career advisor, visit the Career Center in Room 110 at City Hall, Monday through Friday, from 9 am - 4 pm.
DHR career advisors are here to support you but cannot answer HR questions related to your individual employment situation, including layoff or release information. For those questions, please contact your department’s HR staff.
