About the Large Vehicle AI Pilot

What the AI tool can and cannot do

This tool can help you learn about:

• Large vehicle permits and how to get them
• Where you can legally park your vehicle
• The vehicle buyback program, if you're interested in selling your vehicle
• What support services might be available to you
  

This tool cannot:

• Look up your personal permit status or case details
• Sign you up for services or make appointments for you
• Answer questions about other city programs like housing or benefits
• Replace talking to a real person when you need one-on-one help
• Tell you if you qualify for specific programs
  

If the tool can't answer your question, call 311 to get more help.

Why We're Testing This

We want to make it easier for you to get the information you need, when you need it. This is a 6-month trial to see if this kind of tool is useful for our community.

We're testing whether:

• The answers you get are accurate and helpful
• It works well in different languages
• It can handle both simple and complex questions
• There are any problems we need to fix based on real-world use

This is not replacing any existing services. All your current ways of getting help are still available. We're just adding another option.

This pilot is part of a broader effort to explore how emerging technologies can improve access to public information while ensuring equity, privacy, and safety.

Your Privacy Matters

We want to be clear about what information we collect and how we protect it.

To make this tool better, we keep track of:

• What questions people ask
• What answers the tool gives
• Whether people found the answers helpful

Important: Do not share personal details like your full name, address, Social Security number, medical information, or financial details when using this tool.

Your information is protected:

• Only City staff working on this program can see the data
• We don't share your information with outside companies or other government agencies
• Your conversations aren't used to train AI systems
• We never use your information for advertising or selling things

Real People Are Still in Charge

• This tool only answers questions about the large vehicle program
• If you ask about other things like shelters, immigration, or food, it will direct you to call 311
• The tool won't give you personal advice or legal guidance
• City staff regularly check that it's giving good information
