2026 Retirement Board Election
The Retirement Board is composed of seven members: three members elected by the active and retired members of SFERS; three members appointed by the Mayor in accordance with Section 12.100 of the San Francisco Charter; and one member of the Board of Supervisors appointed by the President.

Voting Information
Who Can Vote:
All active and retired members of SFERS are eligible to vote.
Voting Methods:
By Mail:
All eligible active and retired voter members will receive a ballot about 10 days before Election Day. The voted ballot must be received by the Department of Elections no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026.
In Person:
You can pick up a replacement ballot or drop off your ballot at the Department of Elections at City Hall, Room 48.
Departmental Election Officer:
Each department has an assigned Election Officer to act as a contact person for the Election. Election officers can use interoffice mail to send ballots back to the Department of Elections.
Replacement Ballot:
If you do not receive, lose, damage, or mismark your original ballot, you can request a replacement. Contact us at 415-554-4375. You can also choose to vote in person.

Vote Tabulation Information
- The week before tabulation day, the Department of Elections will begin the extraction process and remove ballots from their returned envelopes.
- Starting at 8:00 a.m. on February 2, 2026, the Department of Elections will count ballots to determine which candidates has received the most votes.
- The processes associated with canvassing the ballots are open to public observation in City Hall, Room 59, and will be broadcast live at sfelections.org/live.
