Classification and Compensation

The City organizes its jobs into classifications. Compensation and benefits are set by agreements with employee unions and by the City’s laws.

The Classification and Compensation Division supports the following functions:

  • Civil Service System through managing classification actions, and appeals.
  • Labor Negotiations through performing salary surveys, costing, and contract administration.
  • Payroll through establishing and maintaining rates of pay and premiums.
