Policies and Legislation regarding Nonprofit Contracting

Controller's Office
Many policies govern nonprofits doing business with the City and provide departments with guidance on how to contract with nonprofits. The Controller's Office, City Attorney, and City Administrator's Office create these policies. The purpose of this page is to collect these policies in one place.

Contract Monitoring

The Controller's Office supports nonprofits that have contracts with the City by streamlining their compliance requirements and offering training opportunities. For more information and resources, please visit the Citywide Nonprofit Monitoring and Capacity Building Program website.

Mayoral Executive Directives

An Executive Directive (ED) is a direct order issued from the Mayor to one or more City Departments. It does not create or change the law, but requires department heads to take immediate and specific action(s) to achieve a designated goal.
