Proposition C, passed by San Francisco voters in November 2024, creates the role of Inspector General within the Controller’s Office. The Inspector General will lead investigations into fraud, waste, and abuse, report on public integrity, and make policy recommendations. Informed by best practices, the Inspector General will contribute to the effectiveness, accountability, and transparency of city government. The Controller is accepting applications for the role of Inspector General, to be filled by the end of 2025. Find out more about establishing San Francisco’s Inspector General.
