The San Francisco Department of Elections Releases Preliminary Results Report #4 and Update on the Number of Unprocessed Ballots for November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Monday, November 10, 2025 – Today, the Department of Elections issued the fourth preliminary election results reports of votes cast in the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election.
Today’s preliminary results report includes 56,253 vote-by-mail ballots counted since the last results report issued on Thursday, November 6.
The Department must still process and count approximately 27,500 ballots. This estimate includes approximately 21,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 6,500 provisional ballots (cast at polling places and the City Hall Voting Center).
Department personnel will process and count ballots during the weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., except Veteran’s Day on November 11. The Department expects to certify the local results for this statewide election on December 3. Ballot processing is open to public observation in-person and via livestream at sfelections.gov/observe.
The Department will next release preliminary results reports on Monday, November 17, at 4 p.m. and which will be posted at sfelections.gov/results. To view preliminary statewide election results, visit the California Secretary of State’s website at sos.ca.gov/elections.
When the Department issues preliminary results reports, Director John Arntz will be available to respond to questions from members of the public and the media outside of Room 48 in City Hall.
