San Francisco Stands with You

Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs

Today and every day, we want immigrant community members to know that San Francisco stands with you. As the Bay Area prepares for the Super Bowl this weekend, the City and our community partners are stepping up our preparations to ensure everyone’s safety.

We want to share an important update to reduce confusion and anxiety about the visible presence of federal and state law enforcement agencies during the Super Bowl. We expect to see an expanded law enforcement presence from federal and state agencies. But we do not expect there to be an increase in immigration enforcement for the Super Bowl.

To learn more, read Mayor Lurie’s announcement on how the City is prepared for the Super Bowl.

Connect with Community Resources

We want to make sure community members have the tools they need to feel safe and be prepared. You can:

  • Help your neighbors by avoiding spreading rumors or inciting panic. If you or someone you know has an interaction with federal enforcement and needs immediate legal support, you can call the community-led Rapid Response Hotline at 415-200-1548.

  • Continue to access City services and information. Find out more about City services and community resources for immigrants online at sf.gov/immigrants.

The San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) will continue to monitor the situation and provide information to community members at sf.gov/oceia.

In San Francisco, we stand with our immigrant neighbors, and we stand strong by our values as a sanctuary city. Our local law enforcement will not participate in federal civil immigration enforcement. The San Francisco Police Department’s role is solely to protect public safety, investigate crimes, enforce the law, and manage security related to large public events.

Thank you to all our community partners who are helping to support and protect immigrant communities.
