Mayor Lurie's Statement On U.S. Conference Of Mayors Adoption Of Childcare Resolution
Office of the MayorSAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today released the following statement on the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ adoption of a resolution he authored on childcare:
“Our city is in the middle of a comeback. Foot traffic is rising downtown and across our neighborhoods, small businesses are popping up throughout the city, and for the first time in years, San Franciscans believe we're moving in the right direction. But that comeback has to benefit every family and every neighborhood in our city.
“We’re doing that by leading the way in making childcare accessible and affordable. In January, we launched our Family Opportunity Agenda to make San Francisco the first city in the country where every family with kids under five will have access to childcare. I’m honored that mayors across the country recognized that work today by passing this resolution, and I’m inspired that so many mayors have come together to advocate for the state and federal funding all of our cities need to keep moving forward.
“Under the Family Opportunity Agenda, we will continue working to bring down the cost of housing, childcare, education, food, healthcare, and transportation, because our future depends on the workers and families who make San Francisco the greatest city in the world. I want to thank the U.S. Conference of Mayors and my colleagues across the country for their commitment to our young people.”
