HSH Privacy and Data Sharing

HSH works constantly to protect client data and privacy.

How we use client data

The Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH) governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information through the Homelessness Response System Notice of Privacy Practices. This Notice explains why personal information is collected, how it may be used or shared, and the rights individuals have regarding their information. Consistent with federal privacy regulations, any use or disclosure not described in the Notice requires individual consent or is permitted only when required by law.

As part of its commitment to responsible data sharing, HSH also participates in the DataSF Initiative, which promotes secure, efficient, and appropriate data sharing across City departments and with key partner agencies.

HSH complies with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Homeless Management Information System Data and Technical Standards, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable privacy laws.
