2025 Health Service Board Election
The Board consists of seven members. Three Commissioners are elected. Four appointed Commissioners are comprised of a San Francisco Supervisor, two selected by the Mayor, and one selected by the City Controller. One elected term seat of the Health Service Board will expire on May 15, 2025. Under Section 12.200 of the Charter and Administrative Code Sections 16.550-16.565, an election will be held to fill the vacancies.

Voting Information
Who Can Vote:
All active employees, retired employees, qualified surviving spouses, and qualified surviving domestic partners who are enrolled in a health plan of the Health Service System on April 10, 2025, are eligible to vote. Individuals who are not in the Health Service System, including non-covered exempt as-needed employees, are not eligible to vote.
Voting Methods:
By Mail:
All eligible active and retired voter members will receive a ballot about 10 days before Election Day. The voted ballot must be received by the Department of Elections no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2025.
In Person:
You can pick up a replacement ballot or drop off your ballot at the Department of Elections at City Hall, Room 48.
Departmental Election Officer:
Each department has an assigned Election Officer to act as a contact person for the Election. Election officer can use interoffice mail to send ballots back to the Department of Elections.
Replacement Ballot:
If you do not receive, lose, damage, or mismark your original ballot, you can request a replacement. Contact us at 415-554-4375. You can also choose to vote in person.
Vote Tabulation Information
- The week before tabulation day, the Department of Elections will begin the extraction process and remove ballots from their returned envelopes.
- Starting at 8:00 a.m. on June 3, 2025, the Department of Elections will count ballots to determine which candidate has received the most votes. Notice of Canvass
- The processes associated with canvassing the ballots are open to public observation in City Hall, Room 59, and will be broadcast live on the Department’s web channel, SF Elections Live, at sfelections.org/live.
