Acceptable Specimen Type(s) for Testing - Nasopharyngeal (NP), Nasal Pharyngeal Wash, Oropharyngeal (OP), Tracheal Aspirate, Sputum, Anterior Nares, Pleural Fluid, Nasal Mid-turbinate, Bronchoalveolar Lavage (BAL), Nasal Aspirate

Transport / Collection Medium - Universal or Viral transport medium, Saline, RNAshield, Aptima collection kit

Storage and Preservation of Specimen - Freeze original specimen or extract at -70°C within 48 hours of collection.

Minimum Volume Required - 1 milliliter for original specimen. 40 microliters for extract.

Additional Collection Instructions - Freeze specimens at -70°C and ship on dry ice in compliance with DoT and IATA regulations governing Biological Substances, Category B (UN 3373) Monday through Thursday. Specimen can also be sent via courier Monday through Friday, 8am to 5:00pm.

Additional Required Information - Collection date, CT/CN or RLU value, Submitting Laboratory specimen ID, Patient’s complete name and date of Birth (DOB), specimen type.

Turnaround Time - 7 days

Testing Restrictions - Submit COVID-19 positive specimen that have CT/CN values results of less than or equal to 28 and Aptima specimens with RLU results greater than or equal to 1100
