Seat numbers listed as “VACANT” are open for immediate appointment. However, you are able to submit applications for all seats and your application will be maintained for one year, in the event that an unexpected vacancy or opening occurs.

Description:
The Housing Authority of the City and County of San Francisco Board of Commissioners (Housing Authority Commission) oversees the Housing Authority of the City and County of San Francisco. The Housing Authority Commission shall consist of seven members as follows: four appointed by the Mayor and three appointed by the Board of Supervisors by motion. The members in seats 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 shall serve four-year terms. The members in seats 4 and 5 shall serve a two-year term.
- Seats 1-3: Resident of San Francisco appointed by the Mayor
- Seat 4: Resident San Francisco who is a Housing Authority tenant appointed by the Mayor. (cannot be a previous Housing Authority Commissioner).
- Seat 5: Resident of San Francisco who is a Housing Authority tenant recommended by the Board of Supervisors and appointed by the Mayor within 10 days. (cannot be a previous Housing Authority Commissioner).
- Seat 6 and 7: Resident of San Francisco recommended by the Board of Supervisors and appointed by the Mayor within 10 days.
All commissioners appointed on and after January 1, 1977, shall be residents of the city and county, at the time of their appointment and during their term of office. A failure to maintain residence in the city and county shall cause the office to be vacant. Vacancies in office for whatever reason, including but not limited to, the expiration of a term, shall be filled by the mayor as provided for in this section.
Holdover Information:
Charter Section 4.101.5, regarding limits on holdover service by commissioners, does not apply. In order to ensure continuity of the Authority's operations, current members of the Commission may hold over and continue to serve under their existing terms. No later than sixty (60) days after the Effective Date, and in accordance with Section 2.2(a), the Board of Supervisors will recommend for the Mayor's appointment the Board Appointees for any vacant seats.
Compensation:
$50 per meeting not to exceed four meetings per month.
