Seat numbers listed as “VACANT” are open for immediate appointment. However, you are able to submit applications for all seats and your application will be maintained for one year, in the event that an unexpected vacancy or opening occurs.

Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment(s) at the meeting and applicant(s) may be asked to state their qualifications. The appointment of the individual(s) who is recommended by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
Description:
The Bay Area Regional Interoperable Communications System Authority (Authority) was established through the Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) between the City and County of San Francisco and multiple Bay Area jurisdictions. It enables public safety agencies to communicate with other public safety jurisdictions during major disasters and for day-to-day operations. The Authority consists of a maximum of 19 Directors (Board of Directors), each appointed by the following jurisdictional authorities:
- Mayor of the City of Oakland;
- Mayor of the City of San Francisco;
- Mayor of the City of San Jose;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Marin;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Napa;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of San Francisco;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Cruz;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Solano;
- Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma;
- Governor of the State of California;
- Incorporated cities within Alameda and Contra Costa Counties (East Bay Cities);
- Incorporated cities within San Mateo County (West Bay Cities);
- Incorporated cities within Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties (South Bay Cities);
- Incorporated cities within Marin, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano Counties (North Bay Cities);
- At-Large seat to be determined by the Board of Directors.
Each official/body listed shall appoint one (1) Director and one (1) Alternate Director. The Board of Directors may select a member or group of members, not otherwise represented on the Board, as the appointing authority for seat #19 (at-large). At the time of appointment and for the duration of service, Directors and Alternate Directors shall be officers or employees of their jurisdictional authority. The terms of each office shall be until a successor has been appointed, except for the at-large seat #19 which shall be a two-year term.
