Building Permit Inspections

Contractors

• What You Need
  • Permit application number.
  • Contractor license number (must be the permit applicant).
• How to Schedule
  • Sign in to schedule a building inspection.
  • If you don't have an account, you can register as a licensed contractor with the City and County of San Francisco.

General Public

• What You Need
  • Permit application number.
  • Inspection code (also available in the automated phone system).
• How to Schedule
  • Call the Voice Inspection Scheduling System at 628-652-3401, available 24/7.
  • Follow the prompts to schedule, reschedule, cancel, or get results of an inspection.

Payment

• You can pay for an additional building inspection via:

  • In-person: Visiting 49 South Van Ness Avenue, 4th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103.

Plumbing/Mechanical Permit Inspections

Contractors

  • Sign in to schedule a plumbing/mechanical inspection.
  • If you don't have an account, you can register as a licensed contractor with the City and County of San Francisco.

General Public

  • Permit application number.
  • Inspection code and inspection type.

  • Option 1: Online
    • Visit the Permit Tracking System, available to access 24/7.
    • Enter your permit number, select your inspection type, and schedule your inspection time.
  • Option 2: By Phone
    • Call the Voice Inspection Scheduling System at 628-652-3401, available 24/7.
    • Follow the prompts to schedule, reschedule, cancel, or get inspection results.

Payment

• You can pay for an additional plumbing/mechanical inspection online.

Electrical Permit Inspections

  • If you don't have a DBI account, you can register as a licensed contractor with the City and County of San Francisco.

General Public

  • Follow the prompts to schedule, reschedule, cancel, or get inspection results.

Payment

• You can pay for an additional electrical inspection online.

Fire Department

• Schedule After-Hours Inspections
  • Submit a request and pay in-person at 49 South Van Ness Avenue, 2nd Floor.
• Pay for additional inspection hours
  • Call 415-558-3300 or visit 698 2nd Street, Room 109.
  • Office Hours: Monday-Friday at 8am-4pm.
