The Department of Elections Begins Early Voting for the September 16 Special Recall Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, August 14 – The Department of Elections will begin providing in-person early voting for the Special Recall Election on Monday, August 18. Voters registered in Supervisorial District 4 are invited to cast their ballots during this period at the Department’s office, located on the ground floor of City Hall, Room 48.

"Providing voters with clear and accessible election information is always our priority," said Director John Arntz. "We've launched a dedicated webpage at sfelections.gov, which serves as a central hub for recall-related information, including tools for voters to verify their eligibility to participate in the Recall Election. Additionally, we've customized our Voter Portal at sfelections.gov/voterportal to provide personalized election details specifically for District 4 voters."

From Monday, August 18, through Monday, September 15, early voting will be available daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. Additionally, early voting will be open on the weekend of September 13 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Election Day, September 16, voters will be able to cast their ballots at City Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., in line with the hours of the 20 polling places in District 4.

During early voting, eligible voters can register to vote, update their registration, request a replacement ballot, or vote in person. Voters have the option to mark and submit their ballots using paper, touchscreen, or audio methods. For those requiring curbside voting, assistance is available by calling (415) 554-4375 or by sending a companion inside to request support.

The Department of Elections is dedicated to ensuring that every voter feels welcomed and supported.
