Mayor Lurie Appoints Human Services, Building Inspection Commissioners

Appointees Will Work With Commissions, Mayor Lurie to Make San Francisco Safer and Stronger, Support City’s Recovery

SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today announced two new appointments to city commissions, bringing community leaders and policy experts to the Human Services Commission and Building Inspection Commission. The mayor has appointed Jennifer Garcia to the Human Services Commission and Lindsey Maclise to the Building Inspection Commission’s structural engineer seat.

“Jennifer Garcia and Lindsey Maclise have proven their commitment to their communities and professions, and they will draw on years of experience and professional knowledge to help make San Francisco stronger,” said Mayor Lurie. “Their expertise and dedication will be vital as we create a safer city, and I look forward to partnering with them to support our city’s recovery.”

Jennifer Garcia serves as chief operating officer of the Latino Business Action Network, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing Latino entrepreneurship in the United States. She is the founder of Fluential Leadership, a firm that helps small and mid-sized businesses scale through tailored strategies in growth, talent development, and operational improvement. Garcia has a long-standing commitment to the Latino community, participating in the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley's Latino board leadership academy and co-founding NALA, an alumnae association supporting academic excellence. She holds an MBA from the University of San Francisco and a B.S. from Colorado State University and currently serves on the boards of Latinas in Business and San Francisco Adult and Teen Challenge.

Lindsey Maclise is a principal at Forell Elsesser with more than 18 years of experience in structural engineering. A University of California, Berkeley graduate with both bachelor's and master's degrees in civil and structural engineering, she has led complex and large-scale projects across the Bay Area. Her work often centers around collaborating with architects and clients to ensure innovative, efficient, and sustainable structural solutions. Maclise is a recognized leader in advancing environmental sustainability within the built environment. In addition to her technical work, she is deeply involved in professional service, serving as chair of the U.C. Berkeley civil and environmental engineering advisory committee and as a past board member of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California.
