Mayor Lurie Appoints Community Leaders to Key San Francisco Commissions, Task Force
Leaders Will Work Across Government to Drive San Francisco’s Comeback
SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today announced four new appointees to key San Francisco commissions. The new appointees will work with the Mayor’s Office and city staff to support San Francisco’s vibrant communities, strengthen local government, and drive the city’s economic recovery. Mayor Lurie has appointed Michael Adams to the Sunshine Ordinance Task Force, Al Perez and McKenna Quint to the Arts Commission, and Nancy Tung to the Airport Commission.
“These new appointees bring decades of experience and a commitment to public service, leadership in their communities, and effective government,” said Mayor Lurie. “Their expertise will help us strengthen city government and drive San Francisco’s economic comeback. I’m looking forward to working with each of them.”
Michael Adams is the founder of Civilization Lab, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening civic engagement in San Francisco through education and technology, where he created and teaches a civics course. He also developed SF Gov Graph, the first public database of San Francisco’s government entities, built with custom data visualizations. Before launching Civilization Lab, Adams worked as an urban development analyst, focusing on governance models for new communities, and as a software engineer in the aerospace sector. Adams holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
Al Perez is a seasoned creative director, project manager, and community leader whose career spans decades of producing large-scale cultural celebrations, corporate events, and marketing campaigns. He currently serves as executive director of the Pistahan Filipino Parade and Festival, and his work has extended across professional sports partnerships, city initiatives, and international cultural exchanges. In addition to his professional and cultural contributions, Perez has served on the San Francisco Entertainment Commission, where he helped shape policies to support the city’s nightlife and arts communities.
McKenna Quint is an operations leader with a career spanning tech, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership. Most recently, Quint led recruitment at Meter before taking a sabbatical to focus on volunteering, advising startups, and pursuing creative work in film. She has built and scaled people and recruiting functions at various companies in Silicon Valley. Before her work in tech, Quint led philanthropic initiatives and nonprofit programs with a focus on education, youth development, and strategic communications, and her career reflects a blend of operational excellence, social impact, and creative exploration.
Nancy Tung is an experienced prosecutor and public servant with more than two decades of legal and leadership experience across the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, and California Attorney General’s Office. She currently leads the Vulnerable Victims Unit at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. Previously, she worked on consumer protection and public integrity cases, prosecuted complex white-collar crimes, and handled felony appeals before state and federal courts. Tung is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and Georgetown University Law Center.
