Legal Services for Survivors
The Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development funds gender-based violence (GBV) legal services to support survivors navigating complex legal systems related to domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. These services may include legal consultation, court accompaniment, assistance with restraining orders, immigration relief, restitution, and advocacy throughout the legal process. Survivors may also have rights under Marsy’s Law, which protects and empowers crime victims in the criminal justice system. Legal providers offer trauma-informed, confidential support to help survivors understand and exercise these rights.
