Denise Heitzenroder

Denise is the Project Manager for Strategic Initiatives for the Department on the Status of Women. She drives an evolving list of priorities and projects for the team, including communications, events, research, technical projects and policy objectives. She leads the team's reproductive justice work as part of the Bay Area Abortion Rights Coalition, and liaises with other Departments and city leadership teams on a variety of gender equity concerns.

Denise has worked across a variety of issues areas, including environmental justice, voting rights, reproductive justice, and LQBTQ+ rights. Denise is a 20+ year resident of San Francisco who spends her weekends wandering through farmers markets and parks or volunteering for causes she is passionate about.
