Join or support a Community Needs Assessment Focus Group

DCYF is looking for San Francisco parents, caregivers, transitional-age young adults (TAYA), and community organizations to take part in focus groups for the DCYF Community Needs Assessment (CNA). Parents, caregivers, and TAYA can sign up to join a focus group. Community organizations can help recruit participants, host a focus group, or both.Complete the CNA Focus Group Interest Form

Help improve DCYF-funded services

Focus Groups will help DCYF understand what parents, caregivers, and TAYA need; how they find, choose, and access programs and services; what is working; and what should change.

We want to hear from people with a range of experiences, including those who have and have not used DCYF-funded services.

About the CNA focus groups

Focus Groups are one way DCYF gathers community input for the Community Needs Assessment. The CNA helps us understand what children, youth, TAYA, and families need and how they find, choose, and access DCYF-funded programs and services.

Small-group conversations give parents, caregivers, and TAYA a chance to share their experiences in their own words. What participants share will help DCYF understand what programs and services people need, how services should be offered, and what helps programs work well.

DCYF will combine Focus Group findings with input from Youth Sessions and DCYF Grantee Sessions, program data, and other research. Findings from the Citywide Community Needs Assessment (CCNA), including Family Summits and the Citywide Family Survey, will provide broader context about people’s lives and communities and how they affect the ways people use DCYF-funded services.

How DCYF recruits focus-group participants

We partner with community organizations, including DCYF grantees, and City departments to reach parents, caregivers, and TAYA with a range of experiences. This includes people who have used DCYF-funded services and people who have not.

All Focus Group participants will receive an incentive to thank them for their time and input.
