About us
Our history and mission
San Francisco City Clinic is a trusted source for sexual health services and information, known for our experienced professionals and our commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care for over 100 years.
Our mission is to improve our community’s sexual health by preventing, diagnosing, and treating sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, and preventing unintended pregnancy.
Our organization
SF City Clinic is part of the STI/HIV Branch of the Population Health Division of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
The Population Health Division provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response.
Our commitment
The San Francisco Department of Public Health is focused on reducing STI health disparities and preventing the most severe complications of STIs in San Francisco. Thus, we prioritize our work with:
- Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM)
- Adolescents and young adults, particularly those of color
- Transgender people and
- People assigned female at birth, of reproductive age, who are at risk for syphilis infection (and therefore newborns with congenital syphilis).
Services we offer
STI and HIV testing and treatment
- STI and HIV testing and treatment, including mpox
- Hepatitis C (HCV) testing
- Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment for those with Medi-Cal
- Help getting your partners treated if you are diagnosed with syphilis or HIV
- Antibiotics to treat your partners for an STI
HIV care
- HIV primary care at our clinic for patients with no insurance and who live in SF
- Help getting into HIV care at other clinics, no matter your insurance or where you live
- Help with coverage of HIV medication (ADAP enrollment and other benefits)
STI and HIV prevention
- PrEP
- PEP
- Doxy-PEP
- Vaccines against mpox and other STIs
Reproductive health
- Birth control, including the morning-after pill
- Family planning, pap smears, and other reproductive health services
Other services
- Behavioral health services
- Opportunities to participate in research studies
- Free condoms
About our LINCS team
LINCS (Linkage, Integration, Navigation, and Comprehensive Services) is an HIV and STI partner services and linkage to care program. The LINCS team is staffed by a team of Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) and Navigators who are specially trained to offer treatment assurance, linkage to care, partner services and navigation to support SF residents diagnosed with HIV and other STIs like syphilis, mpox, and gonorrhea. LINCS’ mission is to decrease transmission of and lower morbidity from HIV and STIs.
LINCS has many resources we can offer including:
- Support in getting tested and treated
- Support notifying your sex partners
- Figuring out your insurance and benefits
- Transportation to your appointments
- Warm handoff to services
