Chris Reyes
Manager, ApprenticeshipSF – Workforce Development Division, Department of Human Resources

ApprenticeshipSF is led by Chris Reyes, a workforce development professional, United States Air Force veteran, and third-generation San Franciscan with more than 15 years of experience building equitable workforce pathways and public sector apprenticeship programs. As the City and County of San Francisco’s apprenticeship lead, Chris oversees citywide apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship initiatives across multiple City departments, labor unions, educational institutions, and community-based organizations.
Chris specializes in designing and implementing workforce strategies that connect underserved and historically disconnected communities to meaningful career opportunities in the public sector and skilled trades. His work focuses on strengthening partnerships between government, labor, education, and industry to expand access to apprenticeship pathways that create long-term economic mobility for San Francisco residents.
Under Chris’s leadership, ApprenticeshipSF has expanded innovative apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship models in partnership with multiple departments citywide, while collaborating closely with labor organizations, community based organization, colleges, and schools.
Chris holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Community and Economic Development, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. His professional background includes workforce development, labor-management collaboration, community organizing, case management, local hire, apprenticeship policy implementation, public sector operations, and community engagement.
Outside of work, Chris is an enjoys spending time with his wife and coaching t-ball and basketball with two his sons.
