Where to apply for event permits based on location

Find out who has jurisdiction over certain parks and locations in San Francisco.

Learn where to apply first

Different agencies will lead the event permitting process, depending on where your event is held.

Use "Find" on this page for the location you're looking for.

On the keyboard, use "Ctrl +F" on a PC or "Command + F" on a Mac.

City and County of San Francisco

Submit an intake form in the PermitSF portal if your event:

  • Is on a City street that's not in a park
  • Is on a sidewalk
  • Is inside a building (not including City Hall or the Ferry Building)
  • Is not a film production

We will let you know of any other permits you'll need for your event.

For film productions

Get a Film Permit from the Film Commission. They will tell you what other permits you'll need for your shoot.

City Hall

Visit the San Francisco City Hall Events Office to book an event space at City Hall.

Waterfront locations (Port, piers, and the Ferry Building)

Treasure Island or Yerba Buena Island

Apply for a Use Permit from the Treasure Island Development Authority for all events and film production taking place on Treasure Island or Yerba Buena Island.

Golden Gate Bridge

Apply for a special event permit from the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.

Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA)
