Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be contacted by the Rules Committee Clerk once the Rules Committee Chair determines the date of the hearing. Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment(s) at the meeting and applicant(s) may be asked to state their qualifications. The appointment of the individual(s) who is recommended by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
Description:
The Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) Citizens Advisory Council consists of fifteen (15) members:
- One (1) member appointed by each member of the Board of Supervisors (eleven (11) total); and
- Four (4) members appointed by the Mayor.
Additional seat qualifications:
- No fewer than ten (10) members of the Council must be regular riders of the Municipal Railway.
- At least two (2) members must use the Municipal railway's paratransit system.
- At least three (3) members must be senior citizens over the age of 60.
- The membership of the Council shall be reflective of the diversity and neighborhoods of the City and County of San Francisco.
The Council may provide recommendations to the MTA with respect to any matter within the jurisdiction of MTA and shall be allowed to present reports to MTA’s Board of Directors.
The members shall be appointed to four-year terms and shall serve at the pleasure of their appointing power. Staggered terms for the initial appointees shall be determined by lot.
