Summer Learning Week 2026

Children, Youth and Their Families

Learn, Lead, and Belong in San Francisco!

Each year, summer programs across the country celebrate National Summer Learning Week by highlighting the important role summer programs play in supporting children, youth, and working families. This year, DCYF has combined Summer Learning Week with One City Day, San Francisco's citywide day of service led by Mayor Daniel Lurie and First Lady Becca Prowda. As part of this effort, 70 DCYF-funded K–8 Out-of-School Time programs are hosting events based on the theme Learn, Lead, Belong in San Francisco, connecting summer learning with service, leadership, and community engagement.

One City Day: A citywide day of service

One City Day is a citywide day of service that brings together residents, community organizations, businesses, and City departments to strengthen neighborhoods through volunteer projects across all 11 supervisorial districts. Led by Mayor Daniel Lurie and First Lady Becca Prowda, the initiative highlights the power of community service and civic engagement through activities such as neighborhood beautification, park improvements, community-building projects, and support for local organizations. By bringing people together in service, One City Day aims to build stronger connections between neighbors and foster a shared commitment to creating a more vibrant and connected San Francisco.View details about One City Day
