PROFILE

Stephanie Bazarini

2022 DPH MCAH Epidemiologist Intern

Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health

I am a Master's student in Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I am interested in applying scientific research to further the health of women and families in San Francisco. In my academic endeavors I have investigated the role of estrogen in pain perception and ways that environmental contaminants impact women's reproductive health and the health of their children. As an SF Department of Public Health Epidemiology intern in Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health, I am worked on presenting information about adolescent mental health in San Francisco in an interactive web-based format available to the public. I hope to soon be working professionally in a public health or research capacity that will advance the concept of One Health - the idea that the health of the wider ecosystem is intimately entwined with human health.
