Scott Dignan
Board Member

Scott Dignan is currently a United States Army First Sergeant (Reserves) and U.S. Department of State Investigative Specialist based in San Francisco. He is a decorated veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and former Lieutenant with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, where he served as SWAT commander, led the Emergency Response Team, managed the Tactical K-9 Unit, and directed the Violent Crimes and Internal Affairs Units.
Scott’s 30 years of domestic and international law enforcement experience includes implementing successful community policing programs, directing multi-agency investigations, and building international security programs. His law enforcement career centers on integrity, accountability, management, and leading investigations into allegations of misconduct. Scott is well-versed in analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data to identify and address systemic issues, while spearheading policies and training to promote ethical conduct among staff, officers, and police leaders.
Scott holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Management and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. Scott and his husband live in the South of Market neighborhood and are small business owners in the Castro.
