San Francisco Point-in-Time (PIT) Count
A biennial count of people experiencing unsheltered and sheltered homelessness at a given point in time. At least once every two years, communities that receive federal funding for homelessness services are required to conduct a Point-in-Time (PIT) Count. This count helps us understand how many people are experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness on a given night across the country.
Homelessness and Supportive Housing2026 PIT Count
San Francisco’s 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count assessed homelessness on January 28, 2026. It included counts of people staying in temporary shelter as well as those sleeping on streets, in vehicles, or other places not meant for people to live. Thank you to the community partners and people with lived experience who contributed to this year’s count.
