Health orders

Order of the health officer requiring personnel working in designated Healthcare Facilities—meaning general acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities, other types of ambulatory care settings, and jail health facilities to wear a Well-Fitted Mask at all times when in the same room as patients, clients, or residents with limited exceptions. This Order is effective immediately on issuance and will continue, as updated, to be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2023,

Order of the Health Officer of the City and County of San Francisco establishing safety requirements for collecting and handling clinical specimens for infectious disease testing by private operators of specimen collection sites during the fall and winter season. Date of order: October 11, 2023 

Order of the health officer requiring staff who work in covered healthcare facilities and jails to wear a well-fitted mask while in the same space with patients, clients, residents, or people who are incarcerated.

Order of the health officer requiring staff who are stationed at or regularly work at healthcare facilities and jail health settings to continue to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and have at least one booster. Updated November 14, 2023.

Order of the health officer requiring healthcare workers in designated health facilities to receive their influenza vaccine each year during influenza season. The deadline to complete the annual requirement is no later than October 31st.

Order of the health officer requiring hospitals in San Francsico to provide patient data for inpatients with COVID-19 infections for the purpose of public health prevention and response efforts.

Rescissions

In addition to the end of the local public health emergency, the health officer rescinds several health orders and directives related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
