Rebecca Saroyan
Commissioner
Rebecca Saroyan is a lifelong San Franciscan with a deep commitment to public service and civic engagement. With a legal career rooted in the public sector, she spent nearly two decades as Assistant Regional Counsel at the U.S. General Services Administration, where she advised on government contracts, infrastructure projects, energy initiatives, ethics compliance, and complex technology transactions. She earlier served as Deputy City Attorney in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, providing counsel to key city agencies, including the Department of the Environment, the Port of San Francisco, and the Health Service System and Board.
Rebecca’s legal experience includes private practice at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, Jackson & Wallace, and currently, The Mitzel Group. She has shared her expertise in the classroom as an Adjunct Professor at UC Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings), her alma mater, where she earned her J.D. after completing a B.A. in Art History at UCLA.
Deeply involved in her community, Rebecca has served on the The Hamlin School Board of Trustees for six years, including as Board Secretary, and on the Hamlin Alumni Board for seven years. Her civic contributions extend to numerous local organizations, including the San Francisco Symphony, the Junior League of San Francisco, the University High School Alumni Council, and the Marina Community Association. Rebecca lives in the Marina District with her husband and teenage daughter. On May 2, 2025, she was appointed by Mayor Daniel Lurie to the San Francisco Board of Appeals, for a term ending on July 1, 2028.
