About the framework
In January 2025, GFTA brought together more than 200 arts leaders from our grant portfolio for connection, coalition building, and to begin a new strategic framework process. Nearly a year later, we are pleased to share a refreshed framework for grantmaking that is aligned with both community needs and City priorities.
Our Strategic Framework focuses on what we heard matters most to our community: promoting San Francisco as a diverse cultural hub by supporting the arts through sustained general operating support. It will guide both immediate strategies and long-term planning as we continue to collaboratively build a NEW strategic arts agency committed to investing in the people, organizations, and infrastructure that sustain our creative ecosystem.
Above all, this framework offers greater clarity and alignment for current and future grantee partners, ensuring our shared priorities are at the heart of how we move forward together.
