Adrienne Bechelli
Deputy Director
San Francisco Department of Emergency Management
Adrienne Bechelli directs the Coordinated Street Response division of the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management. In this role, she leads strategy and operations related to addressing street crisis conditions on San Francisco streets, including homelessness and drug addiction. Her responsibilities include oversight of the city’s Neighborhood Street Teams, which serve as task forces of city agencies responsible for engagement, service connection, enforcement, and cleaning related to unsafe or unsanitary street conditions, as well as operational direction of community safety ambassador programs across 12+ citywide service areas.
Bechelli has served San Francisco and the greater Bay Area for over 12 years in the emergency management field and has led the activation of the incident command system in both planned and emergency incidents. From 2024-2025, she served as General Manager for the Bay Area Urban Areas Security Initiative, a regional agency that administers over $30 million in federal grants dedicated to preventing, protecting against, responding to, and recovering from terrorist incidents and catastrophic emergencies across the Bay Area. From 2019-2024, she served as Chief of Staff and Deputy Director for Emergency Services for SF DEM, leading emergency operations, planning, logistics, training and exercise development, and hazard and threat analysis and response for San Francisco, including the City’s response to COVID-19. She also served as an emergency planner in the utility sector from 2013-2019, leading the local public utilities commission’s emergency training, exercise, and planning programs.
Bechelli is passionate about building relationships across the public, private, community, and non-profit sectors, especially when those partnerships support her native San Francisco. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.
