Stephanie Smith

Stephanie works for the City Performance Division of the Controller’s Office, where she partners with City departments to help them work more strategically. She especially enjoys projects that improve organizational processes, align departmental work with strategy, and use data to inform decision-making.

Stephanie facilitates Data Academy’s Intro to Process Improvement class which she designed to help City staff build the skills they need to lead their own improvements.

Before joining City Performance, Stephanie served as a process improvement professional at the California Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Department of Human Resources. During her time in State government, she earned a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt after completing projects to improve DMV operations. She also holds a MPA from the University of San Francisco and a BA in Politics and Spanish from Mount Holyoke College.

Outside of work, you can find her baking, playing tennis, second-hand shopping, or completing DIY furniture and restoration projects.
